Snow day
Watching snow accumulate outside the window, on the way to three to seven inches. Good excuse not to go to work.
Watching Snow
The white comes in and fights the grey
The white comes in and takes it away
It smothers the grey and the green and the tan
It smothers it all throughout the land
A little spot here, a little spot there
Bending beneath the white speckled air
The air that is filled with little white dots
Persistently falling to cover the spots
And make them pure and virgin and clean
The triumph of white and the end of the green
Memories
Two little girls play in the snow
Bundled and muffled from head to toe
On their little blue sled, how fast they go
Up and around and down the hill
Up and around I see them still
Then home for chocolate to take out the chill
